Experienced Addition to Team Complements Company’s Growth
April 24, 2007 Atlanta, GA……Waypoint Partners, LLC is pleased to announce the addition of Mark Mamelson to their business aviation consulting team. Mamelson’s field of expertise includes extensive knowledge of FARs as well as the operational requirements relevant to successful Part 135 operations.
In announcing the addition of Mamelson, Waypoint’s Managing Director Mike Sowa said, “We are delighted to have someone of Mark’s caliber and expertise join the Waypoint team. I worked with Mark several years ago at what was then one of the largest Part 135 operators in the country and his understanding of the industry’s operational requirements is second to none. In addition to his technical expertise, his real-world experience will really benefit our clients.”
Over the last year, Waypoint has strategically expanded the services they offer and has evolved into a multi-faceted business aviation consulting firm that specializes in operational assessments, strategic fleet planning, aircraft transaction consultation and the managing of completions and extensive refurbishment and modification of high-end business aircraft.
“As we have worked with our clients on various projects, we have frequently been asked if we could also perform another aviation service, such as an assessment of their flight operations, completions management, or an aircraft pre-buy inspection” stated Ken Murray, co-founder of Waypoint. “We realized that with the in-depth experience and knowledge our team possesses it made sense for us to expand our services. We’ve also taken the opportunity to form collaborative alliances with other established industry firms to offer our customers even more comprehensive services.”
At last year’s NBAA Convention, Waypoint Partners and Aviation Personnel International (API) announced a collaborative alliance to offer The S3 Accelerator™, a unique and innovative risk management service designed to provide the most robust, effective and comprehensive flight operations assessment in the industry.
“Our alliance with API has produced great results and given us another valuable service to offer customers,” added Sowa. “We expect to continue enhancing our products and services, both through new partnerships and the addition of new personnel such as Mark.”
Mamelson spent eight years in increasingly responsible positions with LMM, the operations division of Northwestern Aircraft Capital Corporation. He most recently served as Director of Operations for the company. During his tenure with LMM, the company was one of the largest Part 135 operators with over 100 pilots, a 40-aircraft fleet, and operational bases in Anchorage, AK, Van Nuys, CA, Seattle, WA and Allentown, PA. Cutting-Edge New Flight Operations Assessment Service Unveiled
Comprehensive S3 Accelerator Results from Alliance
between API and Waypoint Partners
October 16, 2006, Orlando, FL…..Aviation Personnel International (API) and Waypoint Partners, LLC announced today a collaborative alliance to offer The S3 Accelerator™, a unique and innovative risk management service designed to provide the most robust, effective and comprehensive flight operations assessment tool available to the business aviation industry.
The combined resources of API, the recognized leader in aviation Human Resource Consulting, and Waypoint Partners, a team of aviation professionals with specific background and real world experience in Flight Operations Management, Maintenance & Technical Services Management and Flight Department Administration Services offers clients an unprecedented tool to observe, measure, evaluate and offer expert counsel on every aspect of a flight operation.
The S3 Accelerator, incorporating Safety, Service, and Satisfaction, is an exclusive protocol that combines Waypoint's safety assessment with API’s Annual Health Chex™, a top-to-bottom consultation with all members of the aviation department. This protocol measures change in job satisfaction and cognitive skill levels from year to year, and identifies individual growth and potential, as well as areas of conflict and stress in the aviation function. The combined evaluation gives clients the most comprehensive risk management tool available focused on the entire flight operation.
“Safety does not happen in a vacuum; it is not just a set of procedures,” said Sheryl Barden, President of API. “Safety is about people. Reduction of risk depends solely on the stakeholders involved: the flight department members as well as their clients. Our years of experience in the human resource side of aviation give us a unique perspective and understanding of the people side of the flight operation and their corporate customers. This expertise is the perfect complement to Waypoint’s real-world operational and technical experience.”
The S3 Accelerator includes three key components: operational assessment, maintenance & technical review, and human factors assessment.
“This unparalleled service differs from traditional flight department "audits" not only in scope, but in style,” stated Waypoint’s Mike Sowa. “The S3 Accelerator is designed to be an interactive program that works with the flight department in a positive and proactive manner, rather than being judgmental and polarizing. The result is a more comprehensive and constructive review with clearly defined observations and specific recommendations where appropriate.
“The flight department is a point of convergence of three key assets, the capitally intensive, technically-advanced aircraft, the highly-valued personnel that manage the operation, and the executives and other passengers that are the flight department’s customers,” Sowa continued. “This is a critical focal point that has largely been ignored by other assessment programs.”
“Because of our unique combined capabilities, we not only recognize the importance of this focal point, but have the ability to effectively address it with The S3 Accelerator,” Barden concluded.

Waypoint Partners Expands Services
New Offering Complements Company’s Expertise
August 23, 2006, Atlanta, GA……Waypoint Partners, LLC has expanded their services to include Flight Department Assessment and Review. The company made the strategic decision to add this service to their aviation consulting business after numerous requests by clients to assess their flight operations.
“As we have worked with our clients on various projects, we have been repeatedly asked if we could also perform an assessment of their flight operations,” says Mike Sowa, Waypoint’s Managing Director. “Our team has in-depth experience in this area, so we decided that it made sense for us to fill this need in the marketplace.”
Waypoint’s Assessment and Review goes beyond the traditional industry audit. Instead of merely following a checklist of technical criteria, Waypoint utilizes an interactive protocol that seeks to measure a flight operation not only in technical terms, but also in terms of service and culture. “We carefully review both procedures and service, specifically including how the customer perceives the flight department’s service,” adds Sowa.
Waypoint’s principals have extensive experience and unique backgrounds, which allows the company to offer customers an in-depth and effective review of their operation. Ken Murray’s strong maintenance and technical background is further enhanced by his accreditation as an IS-BAO Auditor. Completing the collective body of knowledge is Mike Sowa’s expertise in operations and customer service gleaned through years of FAR Part 135 management experience and airframe marketing.
In addition to Flight Department Assessment and Review, Waypoint focuses on completion and refurbishment management of large cabin aircraft.
